Robert Antoniades
Partner – Head of RBC Venture Partners Portfolio
Clairmont Capital, Inc.

Robert Antoniades oversees and manages the RBC Venture Partners’ portfolio on behalf of Clairmont Capital. He joined RBC Venture Partners as a Managing Director in 2004 and led direct investments in a broad range of software and technology companies ranging from enterprise software to information security and from insurance applications to sales and trading platforms. Robert also used his expertise in venture capital to assist in the development and commercialization of emerging technologies developed within RBC.

Prior to RBC, Robert was a Vice President at BMO Nesbitt Burns Equity Partners and Executive Director of CIBC Capital Partners’ Silicon Valley office in Menlo Park where he collectively made investments in financial services software, internet service providers, enterprise and internet software, e-healthcare, wireless application development, security products, optical networking and semiconductor companies, among others.

He currently serves on the Boards of Placemark Investments, Infobright Software, Varicent, Verafin, Adaptive Planning and VM6 Software, where he brings the insight and knowledge gained from 14 years of venture capital investing experience. Additionally, he is the Past Chair of the Distress Centres of Toronto.

Robert has a BBA from Wilfrid Laurier University and is a Chartered Financial Analyst, a Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute and a Certified Investment Manager.

 

Mark Dobbin
President
Killick Capital Inc.

Mark Dobbin is the founder and President of Killick Capital Inc., a Newfoundland based private equity company.  Killick was created to serve as a vehicle for Mark’s desire to work and invest in Newfoundland and Labrador.

From 1998 to 2003 Mark was the Chair and CEO of Vector Aerospace Corporation, a globally recognized aviation repair and overhaul company then head quartered in St. John’s, NL. Prior to his time with Vector, he was employed for 17 years at CHC Helicopter Corporation serving as senior vice-president and a member of the Board of Directors. He also served on the Board of Directors for Aurora Energy Resources Inc. as well as Stratos Global Corporation, Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro and the Aerospace Industries Association of Canada.

Mark currently serves as a board member for Killick Capital’s portfolio investment companies including Plasco Energy Group Inc., Avatas Aerospace, Verafin Inc., Greyfirst Corp., and Max: Arts/ Athletics/Wellness.

He is a graduate of the Bachelor of Commerce (Co-op) program from Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador, and also earned a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Dalhousie University.

 

Paul Hill

Paul has over 20 years of experience in the software industry.  Most recently, Paul led the Performance Management business at IBM.  The IBM Performance Management business includes the acquisitions of Clarity Systems, Applix, Frango, Adaytum, and Varicent.  Prior to IBM, Paul was Chief Operating Officer at Clarity Systems, which was acquired by IBM in 2010.  Paul joined the Verafin Board in 2010.

 

David Kelly

David has enjoyed a 35 year career in the Canadian technology industry, initially working for large multi-national firms.

Founding his own software company at the age of 40,  David developed cash handling expertise in the financial sector, and a customer centric business model built around 24/7/365 service.  He extended his company’s software dominance in the Canadian market into the United States and international markets.

Working with an emerging team of entrepreneurs that became the co-founders and leaders of Verafin, David financed and framed the money laundering detection issue that became the company’s initial focus.  He has remained involved with the company as a Director since 2003.

 

Jamie King
President & CEO
Verafin

Jamie co-founded the company in 2003 with two other Memorial University postgraduate Electrical Engineering students, Brendan Brothers and Raymond Pretty. Since then he has been establishing the long term vision of the company and leading Verafin’s product development efforts.

He is an industry expert in the application of technology to the detection and prevention of money laundering and fraud and he is dedicated to continuously developing innovative ways to combat financial crime. Equipped with an extensive background in probabilistic networks, behavior based analytics, robotics, he has an expert knowledge of fraud and money laundering detection and the financial industry. As a result, Jamie is frequently asked to speak at a number of anti-money laundering conferences across North America. His focus is often on the convergence of fraud and money laundering detection within financial institutions and the emerging use of advanced technologies to fight financial crime.

 

David Unsworth

Clairmont Capital

David Unsworth is focused on the management of the RBC Venture Partners portfolio on behalf of Clairmont Capital. David has ten years of venture capital investment experience and has invested in a broad range of information technology companies.

Prior to joining Clairmont, David was a Director with RBC Venture Partners, the venture capital operation of Royal Bank of Canada (RY:NYSE). Before his time with RBC Venture Partners, David had a successful track record within RBC Financial Group in retail and commercial banking, e-commerce strategy development and project management.

David currently serves on the board of directors of Verafin Inc. and is an observer on the boards of IGLOO Software, Lumeta Corporation, Varicent Software Incorporated and Adaptive Planning Inc. He also managed the investment and served on the board of Viigo Inc (acquired by RIMM), and was an observer on the board of Tacit Software Inc.(acquired by ORCL).

David has a MBA from Queen's University, holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from Wilfrid Laurier University and is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP). He is also a graduate of the NVCA's Venture Capital Institute and the Rotman SME Board Effectiveness Program.

 

Arthur Connelly
Former Chairman - American Bankers Association (ABA)

Arthur Connelly brings 45 years of financial services experience to Verafin. He is a former chairman of South Shore Savings Bank, a $920 million mutual organization, and its parent, South Shore Bancorp, MHC, in South Weymouth, Mass. After 43 years of service with the bank, he remains a member of the South Shore Bancorp Board of Directors.

He served 12 years as a director of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston, chairing its Housing & Community Development Committee, as well as being vice chairman of its Government & Community Relations Committee. He previously chaired the FHLB of Boston's Audit and Personnel Committees and was also a member of its Affordable Housing Committee.

An active participant in a wide variety of activities and organizations, he is on the Board of Directors of The Savings Bank Life Insurance Company and is a member of its Audit and Personnel & Compensation Committees. Mr. Connelly is a former director and chairman of the Depositors Insurance Fund of Massachusetts, as well as a former director of the Center for Financial Studies at Fairfield University in Connecticut. For many years he was also involved in the health care industry, serving as a former director and past chairman of the Board of Directors of South Shore Hospital in South Weymouth.

He is a graduate of ACB’s National School of Banking at Fairfield University and the Executive Development Program at the University of Massachusetts.
